New Shoes
Even the longest journey starts with a single step, right?
Then i’ve got some fabulous shoes to protect that first step and about the next 500 miles of them! (That’s usually how long running shoes are good for.)
Last night i made my way down to my local Road Runner Sports to get some advice from the experts regarding what shoe i should be wearing. Though there is little equipment in running, that shoe is the most vital bit you have. Being that i apparently pronate with my right foot, which means that it rolls inward or outward and not in the proper straight or neutral line. After many surprisingly high-tech testing, the nice salespeople and i agreed on this:

These pretty babies are the New Balance 1222’s. They are ridiculously comfy and i can’t wait to get out on the run tomorrow with Zoë! How i ever kept running in my 2 year old Nikes i do not know.
Tomorrow, the plan is to do a run/walk of 3 minutes to 2 minutes (run 3, walk 2, repeat 6x). It’s based on a plan laid out in this book. Being that i’m new to all of this, i’m not trying to beat the clock or log a specific amount of miles - just working toward being able to run 30 minutes straight comfortably. This also helps Zoë train because my hope is that come 2 Dec 2007, she’ll be able to run the Las Vegas Marathon with me!
On another note, i’m a bit confused. The following is Calories Eaten (left) vs. Calories Burned (right) for the past two weeks:

Yet, my weight is at 205. Hormones? Bloating? Mystery weight? What the heck?

My feet roll in-I really need to get some good shoes for this summer, since I think the rolling and the heel pain are likely connected.
