I have taken to calling our child “Squishy”. We were watching Finding Nemo and the whole scene with Dory and the baby jellyfish just struck me as so cute, funny and applicable…
Haven’t seen the movie? Watch this clip to see what I mean…
I love my Squishy.
Justin came to my first prenatal appointment with me today. After making me completely undress and wear that lovely paper ensemble in the freezing cold exam room, poking me and prodding me, the doctor confirmed that yes, I’m 15 weeks pregnant. Though we didn’t get to do an ultrasound (I have another appointment on Monday, so we’ll see…) we did get to hear the heartbeat - a strong 153 bpm!
As I was getting dressed, I smiled at him and said “THIS is why I have just a touch more say in the name than you do… unless you want to wear the paper dress next time.”
A bit blanch and embarrassed, he agreed.
“It’s only a 55% to your 45% vote,” I said.
After seeing his wife’s vagina be poked at by a doctor, I think he feels just fine with that arrangement.
Tomorrow is my first prenatal appointment with an OBGYN and since I’m 15 weeks along, we very well may learn the sex of the baby! With this looming revelation not far off, my normally passive Husband has gone kamikaze on the naming issue.
Since I basically chose the name for the girl and had my heart set on it (he likes the name by the way), he thinks I should hand over all boy naming privileges to him. I agree with this in theory. However, his greatest concern is that “It must be a good hockey name!” This suddenly cuts off all loving trust and I turn into a vicious mother bear.
“You’re not naming my boy Ilya!” (more…)
First game of the season I got to attend and my Ducks did not disappoint.
An exciting 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings, with the last goal an open-netter with seconds left in the game! I left the Honda Center happy and hoarse.
GO DUCKS!

Welcome to Blog Action Day, where bloggers around the world are talking about something near and dear to us all - the environment.
Yes, I know, if you hear “go green!” one more time you’ll scream. But it’s important stuff! So, for a Mercurial Scribe special, we’re going to talk about how we mercurial types (I love ya!) can help promote change and limit your own waste… (more…)
