Dear Miriam,
We are now officially in our last trimester. I would “woohoo!” but the new bout of nausea and lower tummy muscle pain I’m experiencing from your rapid growth limits my vocal enthusiasm to a very quiet “yea”.
According to the nice people at BabyCenter.com, you have gained about 1/2 an inch in length and somewhere near a 1/4 lb in weight. And don’t I know it. When you hiccup, my whole abdomen feels it even though you’re not quite big enough yet to make it noticeable to anyone but me. I can now tell when you’re awake and when you’re sleeping, which makes me feel like I’m really getting to know you better. That makes Mommy happy. (more…)
Life has been a little hectic lately. A good hectic, mind you, full of friends and events and work. Nevertheless it’s still a pace I’m unaccustomed to. Since I don’t have any cohesive stories to tell, I shall share some snippets and thoughts on the past few days: (more…)
Dear Miri,
You are exhausting, little one! How in the world you can be so little and yet make me so fatigued is quite beyond my reasoning capacity. I mean, really? A little 14″, 2 lbs being is making me sleep 14 hours a day, eat every hour and pee every half hour, lacking enough concentration to read a whole paragraph in one sitting? Seriously?
As you grow, you’ve liked to make this clear to me. In other words, you have discovered the joys of kicking. Like really kicking. Hard. Like striking my ribs. And my pubic bone. Suddenly and hard when I’m nearly asleep, which I don’t appreciate. Don’t get me wrong - I’m glad you are growing and strengthening your little arms and legs, but sometimes you hurt Mommy. Yes, it hurts. Now I have some understanding why Grammy laughs when I complain about it, as I’m sure I’ll laugh at you 20-30 years from now when you have a child of your own. (more…)
C’mon in, make yourself at home.
You take a seat at the kitchen table, a smooth white lacquered pedestal number with a red lazy Susan presenting a pot of fresh coffee, cream and sugar. I offer you a large mug so you can concoct to your preference as we chit-chat about the cold and rain we’ve been having.
Would you like a brownie? My Mom made them the other night, half with walnuts for her and Husband and half without for me. It is nice of her, but she’s just considerate like that. Do you like yours plain or with walnuts?
I hand you your brownie square and situate myself across from you, mixing my coffee with a heavy sigh. (more…)
I am happy to announce that my first review for FanBolt.com is now up (you can read it HERE) with many more to follow!
Being the movie fanatic we Mercurials are, I’m thrilled to be working with someone who shares my ardent enthusiasm of pop culture. Thanks Emma, the founder and editor at FanBolt, for this fun opportunity and the great exposure!
