Fat Tuesday - My, How the Body Changes
Today marks the 7th week of Miri’s life and my full return to my pre-pregnancy weight of *gulp* 215 lbs. I fit in my old clothes with exception to my pants - I needed to go up a size to *additional gulp* 18 thanks to the postpartum belly. But at least I get active again. Considering I was injured most of last year and then pregnant, my return to activity must be steady and slow to say the least.
But my goals are big. (But aren’t they always?!) As in marathon big. I know, I know! I’ve talked about running a marathon for years and something always gets in the way. But guess what? I’m a work-at-home writer and Mommy now, so I kind of dictate my schedule. (If you’ve ever had a newborn, you know what I mean by “kind of”.) I have a fabulous jogger stroller, a kid who loves to fall asleep in there no matter how colicky she is and a dog who just begs for a long walk every day. So I’m starting with an 8 week training schedule consisting of mostly walking and simple calisthenics.
This week’s schedule (starting today, though I’m already a week in):
Every day:
Our walk is quickly becoming my favorite part of the day. I live in an area with a lot of horse trails and beautiful homes in Southern California. What’s not to love?
I’ve also re-evaluated my diet. Since I’m breastfeeding and caring for a little one, I’m aiming for 2,000 calories a day in the form of 5-6 meals at 300-400 calories each. This actually goes really well with my breastfeeding schedule since Miri nurses in clusters which leaves me starving.
This week’s stats:
It’s going to be interesting to note my progress here weekly. I have to admit I wonder if I’ll progress at all…

Hey Sweetie,
Sounds like a great plan and healthy too. I agree about walking, I’ve been doing it for months now and it’s my favorite time of the day too. Just to get out and breathe the air and feel the sunshine. I’m sure you’re going to do great with this plan.
