A Matter of Perspective
Awhile ago, the Husband and I were noshing on some yumminess at the local mall when I saw a teenie-bopper, not 13 or 14 years old, dancing about in line with her friends to get a drink while singing a familiar Green Day diddy. But as I heard her a second time, I turned and glared in disbelief.
“I want to be an American idiot!” she sang, rocking out.
I turned to Justin. “Did I just hear that right?”
“Yep, you heard her right.”
“She really thinks those are the lyrics, doesn’t she?”
With chagrin for her, he agreed only to hear her sing it again.
“Looks like you’re there, hun,” I muttered, sipping my lemonade.
(So this is how my parents felt when I messed up the words to a Zeppelin song - I’m sorry!)
In other news, how do you like the new digs? Fancy, huh?

As a member of the peanut gallery, I like the new format a lot!
It is funny to see people butcher rock lyrics but as you say I am sure I did that myself plenty.
As a new parent, you will have loads of entertainment listening to to Miri make up what she thinks are the words to old standards. It will stay with you forever.

Something I look forward to when I have a child: butchering the lyrics to their favorite songs. Loudly. In public. Especially when their friends are about.
Mwah ha ha.

Yes. Yes I am.
But in a good way.

Vanessa, I hadn’t thought of that and will now steal your idea.

Didn’t say you were evil in a bad way
But at least now I know how to spell “mwa haha”

Aw, thanks for the welcome back to blogging, Marie
And I absolutely LOVE mercurial scribe’s new format — very interesting and full of information.
